PESHAWAR
Government employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have once again taken to roads, gathering outside the Provincial Assembly to protest for their rights.
The All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) has demanded a 30% disparity allowance on the pattern announced by the federal government.
Speaking at the protest, AGEGA President Wazir Zada stated that reducing pensions is absolutely unacceptable and strongly condemned any such move. He emphasized that the 15% disparity allowance proposed in the provincial budget does not meet their demands.
He said that government employees from across the province are heading to Peshawar, despite the scorching heat, to participate in the protest.
The demonstrators assembled at City No. 1 School before marching toward Assembly Chowk.
The protest comes a day after negotiations between AGEGA representatives and the provincial finance advisor ended in failure. Protesters have vowed to continue their demonstrations until their demands, including the full 30% disparity allowance and protection of pensions are met.
