Sub standard drinks, fake honey seized

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) carried out major operations in Swat and Kohat, seizing a large quantity of counterfeit honey and substandard carbonated drinks.
According to a spokesperson for the Authority, the Swat Food Safety team conducted a raid on a resort in Kalam, where over 100 kilograms of fake honey were recovered from a hotel room. The confiscated honey was seized and took into custody , while the accused were arrested, an FIR was registered, and the hotel rooms were sealed.
In another operation According to details, acting on a tip-off, the Kohat Food Safety team raided a warehouse near Nehar Chongi and recovered 5,500 litres of mislabeled and substandard cold drinks. The warehouse was sealed and legal proceedings were initiated against the owners. Meanwhile, during joint inspections with the district administration, samples of milk and edible oil were collected from various shops. Used cooking oil was disposed of after samples failed laboratory tests, while a bakery was sealed due to poor hygiene conditions.
Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru lauded the efforts of the Authority and directed officials to intensify operations against those involved in adulteration and unsafe food practices. He said that such anti-people elements, who play with public health, will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
