Minister vows to strengthen UADAs, ensure financial audits

The 11th board meeting of the Urban Areas Development Authorities (UADAs) was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Arshad Ayub Khan. The meeting was attended by Provincial Parliamentary Leader and Member Provincial Assembly Akbar Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport Rangez Ahmad, Member Provincial Assembly Ihsanullah Khan, Member Provincial Assembly Shafiullah Jan, Member Provincial Assembly Zahidullah Khan, Member Provincial Assembly Hamid ur Rehman, Secretary Local Government Saqib Raza Aslam, Managing Director UADA Mukhtiar Ahmad, and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the budgets of all UADAs, including Abbottabad, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Mansehra, Mardan, Swabi, and Swat. On this occasion, the Managing Director of the Urban Areas Development Authority also briefed the participants regarding staff shortages and other administrative issues.
The meeting discussed several important matters including audits of UADAs, financial and service regulations, employees’ plot quota, gratuity package, MD office budget, vision and mission. According to Section 27, the accounts of UADAs are required to be audited under the Auditor General of Pakistan, however, this process has not yet been completed. The meeting decided that a formal letter will be sent to the AGP through the department to ensure audits of each UADA’s accounts.
Addressing the meeting, Minister for Local Government Arshad Ayub Khan said that all Urban Areas Development Authorities of the province would be made financially stable and strong. He directed all directors to completely avoid corruption and present a comprehensive business plan in the next subcommittee meeting.
