Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial President, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of police personnel in the tragic Hangu blast. In a statement, he condemned the attack that claimed the lives of SSP Operations Asad Zubair and two other police officers at a police check post in Hangu, calling the incident a heartbreaking loss.
Hussain acknowledged the sacrifices made by the police in the line of duty, stating that while the police risk their lives to protect the public, they themselves were increasingly vulnerable. “If the guards were not safe, then only Allah is the protector of the people,” he said, highlighting the dire security situation in the province.
The ANP leader expressed concern over the rise of targeted killings, extortion, kidnappings for ransom, and other incidents of unrest, which have become routine across the province. He pointed out that these events raise serious questions about the performance and priorities of both the central and provincial governments. “The government’s complete failure to restore peace has pushed the people into a state of despair,” Hussain remarked.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain criticized the rulers for leaving the public at the mercy of lawlessness and unrest, while failing to provide adequate support or encouragement to the police force. He emphasized that the government’s criminal negligence is demoralizing police personnel who are already working in challenging conditions.
