PESHAWAR
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Peshawar City leaders, including district Nazims, chairmen, and officials, have announced plans to launch a protest against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on the occasion of Begum Nusrat Bhutto’s death anniversary.
Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) here on Wednesday, PPP leaders Zulfiqar Afghani and Zulfiqar Awan said that while the death anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, a staunch champion of democracy, has gone unmarked across the province, PPP workers were commemorating her today at the Press Club.
They recalled her sacrifices during times of political oppression and imprisonment, highlighting her steadfast commitment to democracy.
The leaders criticized their own party leader and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, alleging that instead of supporting party workers and strengthening the party in KP, he was using the Governor House for personal interests, which was harming the party at the provincial level.
“People are leaving the party, yet the governor remains indifferent, spending time on TikToks and parties,” Awan said.
Afghani added that party workers were being blocked from meeting party leadership, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and were being treated unfairly. He warned that the PPP’s existence in KP was under serious threat due to lack of organization and leadership attention.
Giving a 10-day ultimatum, Afghani urged the provincial president Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha and general secretary to meet with city leaders to resolve the party’s issues and strengthen its provincial structure.
