PESHAWAR: The district administration in Charsadda has launched an operation against professional beggars following numerous public complaints. According to the district administration on Tuesday, during the crackdown, 44 beggars were taken into custody. In a surprising revelation, one of the detain d beggars confessed during interrogation that he owns a commercial plaza. A video of the confession has since gone viral on social media. While the operation was initiated in response to citizens concerns, several locals have criticized it as a symbolic or temporary move. Members of the business community remarked that the campaign appears to be a short-term effort, urging the provincial government and the Peshawar Commissioner to take concrete and sustained action against organized begging in the district.
