DIG Rab Nawaz Khan has lauded the traditional Pakhtun Jirga system and the efforts of dispute resolution councils (DRCs) in resolving public disputes.
“Police have been directed to refer disputing parties to the DRCs with mutual consent so that issues can be resolved legally and amicably,” he told the participants of the DRC City Circle in its introductory meeting here on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the members of the DRC including Chairman Ihsanullah Bacha, Haji Alam Zeb Khan and other members.
SP City Shafiur Rehman, DSP Circle Zahid Alam Khan and other police officers were also present.
During the meeting, various matters came under discussion. Chairman DRC Ihsanullah Bacha presented a performance report, while members shared suggestions to enhance the council’s effectiveness.
DIG Rab Nawaz Khan emphasized that DRC members must maintain neutrality and ensure justice, which helps resolve disputes promptly, earns divine reward and strengthens peace and order in society.
He also issued instructions to further activate the DRCs in the district and directed police officers to continue extending full cooperation to the council.
