CHITRAL
In line with the vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Good Governance Roadmap of the Chief Secretary, a high-level meeting was held in Lower Chitral to review prospects for the promotion and development of tourism in the district, with special focus on the Kalash Valley.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saadat Hassan and attended by Director General Kalash Valley Development Authority (KVDA), Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdul Salam, former Adviser to the Chief Minister on Minority Affairs, senior officials of relevant line departments, and representatives of non-governmental organizations working in Lower Chitral.
During the meeting, the Director General KVDA gave a comprehensive briefing on the tourism potential of Chitral district and outlined ongoing and proposed development plans for the Kalash Valley.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) also briefed the Secretary Tourism on various proposed and ongoing tourism-related projects aimed at promoting the region and transforming Chitral into a major tourism hub.
Participants held detailed discussions on sustainable tourism promotion, preservation of the unique cultural heritage of the Kalash Valley, environmental conservation, and socio-economic development of the region.
Secretary Tourism Saadat Hassan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating integrated and effective measures for improving health, education, and infrastructure under the Good Governance Roadmap. He emphasized that these initiatives would play a vital role in positioning Chitral as a prominent and sustainable tourism destination in the province.
