Rana Sana Ullah advisor to Prime Minister (PM) has said debate on establishment of new provinces should be made in parliament rather than seminars or economic forums wherein there will be representation of all political parties and provincial leadership.
“PML-N will make its policy clear on this matter while decision of parliament will be acceptable to all parties, he said this while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
The matter of new provinces should come under debate on such platform wherein it can yield some result and that forum is parliament.
When this matter comes in parliament then PML-N will participate in it forcefully and state its policy.
He said PML-N is a political party which is in power in federation and Punjab, therefore, it is not bound to release its policy only on the proceedings of economic forms or seminars.
The final debate on establishment of new provinces and decision has to be made in parliament.
He said raising this matter in Sindh Assembly by PPP was a political step which accrued political benefit to it.
However provinces have to be made or otherwise, parliament will decide about it.
If people are in support of making new provinces then no one can stop them. Constitutional and legal decision on this matter will be made through parliament. Whatever decision is made in parliament , it will be acceptable to all including PML-N.
To a question about preparations for referendum he said no discussion has been made in federal cabinet in this regard so far.
In recent days sessions of National Assembly and Senate were held . However no parliamentarian or minister talked on the matter of referendum. This matter has not come for formal discussion in the meeting of federal cabinet.
Talking on the matters of allied government he said reconciliation exists between PML-N and PPP about running government.
The bitterness created between the two parties during Azad Kashmir election has ebbed to enough extent. The talks are underway to remove mutual reservations.
If any decision is made on holding referendum then it will be put to debate in cabinet first. later Prime Minister will give proper decision.
However government cannot hold referendum on its own desire. Under constitution, approval from joint sessions of both the houses of parliament is must. Then referendum can be held.
Responding to a question on JI March 20 long march he said JI is political party and its protest activities, dharnas and long march are according to legal and constitutional requirements. Government considers JI Long march a peaceful political protest. Therefore, talks were held with JI. Demands of JI have been heard seriously and attentively during talks.
As much desire is of JI for giving relief to people in prices of petroleum products , the PML-N and prime minister too have not only equal but also more desire to give relief to people.
