The local police have outlined an extensive security strategy to ensure a safe and peaceful New Year’s Eve in the provincial capital.
A total of approximately 500 police officers, including 6 Superintendents of Police (SPs) and 6 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), will be stationed across key areas to manage the celebrations.
Additionally, 6 female constables will be deployed at sensitive and central locations to enhance security.
Key areas such as Garrison Club, Saddar Road, University Town, Tehkal Payan Chowk, and Ring Road will see increased police presence.
Several locations have been marked as particularly sensitive, including Qala Bala Hisar, Hashtangari Chowk, and parts of GT Road.
To ensure thorough safety measures, the Bomb Disposal Unit and K9 Unit will conduct searches at important sites and along major routes.
In an effort to maintain public order, the Ababeel Squad, consisting of 36 officers, will patrol high-traffic areas and other sensitive zones.
Mobile patrol units from city police stations and special patrol squads have been placed on high alert.
The authorities are implementing a zero-tolerance policy toward dangerous activities, including one-wheeling, aerial firing, and speeding.
Emergency services, including Rescue 1122, the district administration, and traffic police, will work in full coordination with the security operations throughout the night.
This comprehensive security plan aims to ensure the safety of residents and visitors as they ring in the New Year.
