PESHAWAR
A meeting of the Special Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Radio Pakistan Peshawar was held on Wednesday at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to review in detail a mob attack on Radio Pakistan’s Peshawar building on May 9 and 10 in 2023.
The meeting was chaired by Provincial Minister for Law and Chairman of the Special Committee, Aftab Alam, a handout said.
Members of the committee and provincial lawmakers, including Tariq Saeed, Malik Adil Iqbal, Muhammad Israr, Samiullah, Ahmed Kundi and Sajjadullah, attended the session.
Officials from the Law Department, Police Department, other relevant departments, as well as officers of the Provincial Assembly, were also present.
During the meeting, participants conducted an in-depth review of the causes of the incident and the progress of investigations carried out so far.
The committee also discussed whether the incident was the result of a premeditated conspiracy or driven by other factors. Various sub-issues, along with the challenges faced during the investigation process, were examined in detail.
Chairman Aftab Alam directed the concerned institutions to present complete, fact-based information, along with relevant evidence and reports, in the next meeting.
He emphasized the need for ensuring transparent, impartial and comprehensive investigations into the incident.
