Solidarity Day
DLP Report
PESHAWAR
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, stated that 5 February, Kashmir Solidarity Day, is a day to renew our unwavering commitment to supporting the just struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) for their right to self-determination and freedom. He emphasized that this day sends a clear message to the Kashmiri people that they are not alone in their struggle.
Shafi Jan said that the continued state-sponsored repression by Indian occupying forces in IIOJK—including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and grave human rights violations—poses an open challenge to the conscience of the world. He stressed that Kashmir is not merely a territorial dispute, but a serious issue of human rights, justice, and international responsibility, and that the silence of the international community is unacceptable.
He noted that despite decades of oppression and severe human rights abuses, the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom remains alive, resolute, and unbowed by pressure. This is the very struggle that PTI Founder Chairman Imran Khan consistently and courageously highlighted before the global conscience.
Shafi Jan further stated that Imran Khan presented the Kashmir issue at every international forum as a human rights cause, forcefully advocating for the Kashmiri people at the United Nations, the OIC, and other international platforms. He maintained a clear and principled position that lasting peace in the region is impossible until the Kashmiri people are granted their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
He added that on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is organizing various official events, including solidarity walks, while panaflexes and banners have been displayed on all government buildings and key locations to expose Indian atrocities to the world.
The Special Assistant urged the international community to take immediate notice of the grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and to play an effective role in achieving a just, sustainable, and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve, he said that the entire Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Pakistan will continue to provide political, moral, and diplomatic support to its Kashmiri brothers and sisters and will vigorously raise their legitimate struggle at every international forum.
