Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of creating a separate narrative on terrorism and failing to prioritise the problems of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a large public gathering in Sherpao village on the 51st death anniversary of his elder brother, Shaheed Hayat Muhammad Khan Sherpao, Aftab Sherpao said maintaining law and order is primarily the responsibility of the provincial government, but the federal government should also support KP. He strongly condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad.
Paying tribute to Shaheed Hayat Sherpao, he said the late leader had struggled for the rights of farmers, cultivators, and marginalized communities, describing him as the first political martyr of the region who fought for social justice and constitutional rights.
Aftab Sherpao said terrorism remained Pakistan’s biggest challenge, noting that 2025 was the deadliest year for security forces and law enforcement agencies. He criticised both the federal and provincial governments for allegedly ignoring the issue and said the lack of a unified national narrative is a major obstacle in eliminating terrorism.
He also highlighted the plight of women, children, and residents of Tirah during harsh winter conditions, accusing the provincial government of failing to make effective arrangements for displaced families.
While advocating adoption of the Chinese development model to uplift backward areas, Aftab Sherpao alleged that Pakistan’s policies prioritise Punjab, leaving poorer regions neglected. He criticised PTI’s recent strike, calling it a failed attempt that ignored real public problems, and said sit-ins and protests were not a solution to governance issues.
KP government to refrain from using public resources for political purposes, adding that the PTI would not be able to secure the release of its imprisoned leader through street protests, he added.
