PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has affirmed that the provincial government was pursuing a comprehensive strategy to ensure lasting peace, stability, and development in the province.
Addressing the convocation ceremony of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, the Chief Minister said he had held detailed consultations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and an Apex Committee on law and order, while further discussions with security and law enforcement agencies are underway.
Afridi emphasized that he would never engage with anyone for personal or political gain, but would assertively defend the constitutional and democratic rights of KP and its people. He warned that coercion, intimidation, or closed-door decision-making would not undermine public interest.
Highlighting the link between stability and development, he said prolonged instability had denied youth educational and professional opportunities. The government is now focusing on education reforms, research, and employment opportunities to ensure no young person remains unemployed.
On financial matters, the Chief Minister criticized the federal government for failing to release Rs 4,750 billion owed to KP, while genuine governance and financial issues, including the Tirah relief fund allocation, are being ignored. He also referenced the IMF report highlighting Rs 5,300 billion in corruption at the federal level.
Afridi concluded by reaffirming his commitment to protecting the rights of the province and its people, distributing degrees, and awarding gold medals to outstanding UET graduates.
