ISLAMABAD
All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leader Shamim Shawl has said that women are the most vulnerable and necessary but also the most affected section of society, especially in the highly militarized and militarized environment.
Shamim Shawl in a statement on the eve of International Women’s Day said with special reference to Kashmir and the political crisis, the continuous test of atrocities and the denial of justice by India, it is necessary to highlight the atrocities on women at every international forum and bring it to the fore.
She said women are not only subjected to severe humiliation and harassment, but also go through painful experiences with prolonged depression that leads to long-term illnesses.
The disturbing situation in the extremely insecure environment of Kashmir has affected Kashmiri women the most, she lamented
She said thousands of women have become widows and their responsibility is a very complex and difficult task to take care of their children and run the house. These women, she added, face serious challenges related to health, economy, education, politics, domestic violence, decreasing environment violence and child deaths and state violence.
On this International Women’s Day, we all have a greater responsibility and duty as Kashmiris to be the voice of the oppressed women of Kashmir, she remarked.
Shamim Shawl said these atrocities have been highlighted in the recent report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, which has been endorsed by the UN Secretary-General as the voice of the United Nations.
