ISLAMABAD
The Embassy of Belgium and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Islamabad hosted a reception to celebrate the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup 2026, co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands, and to welcome the Pakistan National Field Hockey Team.
The event brought together representatives from the diplomatic community, sports stakeholders, and guests to celebrate the shared passion for hockey and the strong connections between Pakistan, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The reception was hosted by Hajo Provo Kluit, Chargé d’Affaires of the Netherlands, alongside Idesbald van der Gracht Ambassdor from the Embassy of Belgium. During the event, guests celebrated Pakistan’s rich hockey tradition and wished the national team success as they prepare for the tournament.
A special highlight of the evening was the handover of hockey sticks by members of the Pakistan National Team to young hockey players, symbolising the importance of inspiring the next generation and promoting the spirit of sport.
The event also featured speeches, a penalty shoot-out activity, and an opportunity for guests to engage with the players ahead of the team’s journey to the Netherlands. The FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands, bringing together the world’s top hockey teams for an international celebration of one of the world’s most popular sports.
