Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, on Friday stressed the importance of religious harmony, tolerance and Pakistan’s role in promoting global peace during a meeting at the Governor House.
Norwegian scholar Dr. Leif Hetland and other dignitaries were also present, said a statement issued here by Governor House Peshawar.
The statement said the meeting covered interfaith harmony, peaceful coexistence, and matters of mutual interest.
Governor Kundi praised Maulana Azad for his efforts to promote religious harmony and peace worldwide, saying the world urgently needs stability.
He said Pakistan played an effective diplomatic role during the recent US-Iran tensions by bringing both sides to talks, which was appreciated internationally.
“This proves Pakistan is a responsible state that seeks peace and stability in the region and the world,” he added.
The governor noted that KP has vast potential in natural resources, affordable electricity, gas, minerals and religious tourism.
Dr. Hetland was presented with a commemorative souvenir by the governor, while the guest gifted his book to the governor.
