PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has expressed serious concern over the province’s security situation, particularly the continued incidents of drone strikes and their impact on local communities, saying that collateral damage was worsening public resentment and contributing to instability.
Chairing a provincial cabinet meeting in Peshawar, the Chief Minister said the meeting had been convened specifically to address ongoing drone strikes, which he described as deeply harmful to the people of KP.
He stressed that the provincial government considers civilian casualties resulting from such actions unacceptable and strongly condemnable.
The Chief Minister said that these incidents are not only causing loss of innocent lives but are also fueling feelings of anger and retaliation among affected communities, which he warned could have serious implications for both provincial and national stability.
He further stated that one of the key objectives of the meeting was to formulate a coordinated response to what he termed persistent issues related to the province’s constitutional and administrative rights.
The Chief Minister also highlighted concerns regarding what he described as discriminatory treatment of KP at the federal level, linking it to broader grievances over resource distribution, energy supply, and governance matters.
He said the provincial government would continue to take up these issues and consult all political stakeholders to decide a future course of action in the interest of the province and its people
