According to officials, the projects are aimed at reducing the impact of seasonal and flash floods by protecting agricultural land, residential areas, roads, bridges and other public infrastructure.
The schemes are also expected to improve water storage capacity, support irrigation, recharge groundwater, reduce soil erosion and strengthen the district’s resilience to climate-related challenges.
Muhammad Sajjad Barakwal said the approvals were the result of years of continuous engagement with the relevant authorities and described the projects as a significant step towards protecting vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable development in Karak.
He stressed the need for timely and transparent execution of the projects to ensure local residents receive their intended benefits without delay.
Community elders and local representatives welcomed the approval, saying the projects would help reduce flood-related losses, improve agricultural productivity, strengthen transport infrastructure and contribute to the district’s long-term economic development.
