Fahad, Rehan, Amjad and Zonera Umair crowned champions as 5th Peshawar Open Table Tennis Tournament concludes

The 5th Peshawar Open Table Tennis Tournament concluded in spectacular fashion at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, following several days of high-quality and thrilling competition. Organized with the support of Ghani Glass and the Hayatabad Sports Complex administration, the event brought together some of the region’s finest table tennis players, who battled for top honors across multiple categories.
In the Men’s Open final, Fahad produced an outstanding performance to defeat Areeb and claim the championship title. In the Women’s final, Zonera Umair displayed exceptional skill and composure to overcome Nowal, securing the women’s crown. The Boys’ category title went to Rehan, who defeated Asim in an exciting final, while Amjad emerged victorious in the Veterans’ category after defeating Malik Asad in a closely contested match.
The closing ceremony was attended by Qazi Haroon ur Rashid of the Wain Group of Companies as the chief guest. Also present were Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Department, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation Vice President Kifayat Ullah, Hayatabad Table Tennis Academy Coach Muhammad Ibrahim, Hayatabad Sports Complex Administrator Abid Afridi, along with sports officials, athletes, and a large number of spectators.
Addressing the ceremony, Qazi Haroon ur Rashid emphasized the importance of sports in the physical and mental development of young people. He said sports not only contribute to building a healthy society but also provide a positive platform for talented youth to showcase their abilities. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting sports development and encouraging emerging athletes across the province.
In a major announcement, the chief guest awarded PKR 10,000 to each champion in the tournament’s four categories, a gesture that was warmly welcomed by the participants and audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Coach Shafqat Ullah and Pakistan Table Tennis Federation Vice President Kifayat Ullah praised tournament organizer and coach Muhammad Ibrahim for successfully staging the championship. They said such well-organized competitions play a vital role in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent while providing young players with valuable competitive experience. They reiterated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Department and the Provincial Table Tennis Association remain committed to creating more opportunities for promising athletes to excel at both national and international levels.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of trophies to the champions and runners-up, while commemorative shields were presented to distinguished guests. The winners were applauded for their outstanding performances, bringing another successful edition of the Peshawar Open Table Tennis Tournament to a memorable close.
