MAKKAH
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye have signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement aimed at strengthening collective security of the three countries and promoting regional peace and stability.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Makkah signed the agreement Friday. Under the agreement attack on any country will be considered attack on the three countries.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye have agreed on fortifying collective deterrence against any act of aggression. Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that at the gracious invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit to Saudi Arabia Friday,
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received the President of Türkiye and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah, where the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence was held.
The distinguished relations between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, joint strategic interests along with matters of mutual interest were reviewed.
Guided by the longstanding historical ties among the three States, based on the enduring bonds of brotherhood and Islamic solidarity that unite them, and building upon their shared strategic interests and longstanding defence cooperation, the three leaders signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
FO spokesperson said all the areas of defence cooperation will be expanded between the three countries as per agreement.
The agreement is a vital movement forward for joint defence interests and safeguarding security of the three countries.
The meeting in Makkah has ushered in new era of defence partnership between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye .
The agreement reflects the vision of three countries for secure and prosperous future.
The three countries reiterated their resolve for promoting peace, security and stability in the region and world. The Joint Defence Agreement has been founded on the basis of historical relations and strategic cooperation between the three countries.
