KP govt, Qatar Charity distribute livelihood equipment to youth in Peshawar

Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Technical Education, Muhammad Usman Khan Bettani, has said that imparting technical education and vocational skills to young people is essential for achieving sustainable employment and economic stability in the province.
Speaking at a ceremony organised jointly by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority and Qatar Charity at a local hotel on Friday, Bettani described Qatar Charity’s provision of income-generating projects, livelihood grants and non-food items as a “commendable initiative”.
“The government’s responsibility is not merely to award certificates. We must equip students with practical skills so they can secure dignified employment or start their own businesses after completing their education,” he said.
Bettani added that the provincial government is pursuing comprehensive reforms to align technical education with industry requirements. The focus, he said, is on strengthening institutional governance, improving the performance of training institutes, enhancing collaboration with industry, and ensuring that every training programme leads to employment and self-reliance.
Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Pakistan, H.E. Yousuf Mohammed Hussein Saleh Al Braik, also attended the event. Others present included Secretary Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Amjad Ali Khan, KP-TEVTA Managing Director Abdul Qadir Shah, Qatar Charity Pakistan Programmes Manager Waqas Haleem, and Regional Director Jassim Mohammed Al Sumaiti.
Bettani praised Qatar Charity for its longstanding work in Pakistan in humanitarian assistance, welfare and economic rehabilitation, noting that the organisation was contributing to long-term development through business support and beneficiary guidance.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Bettani and the Qatari ambassador distributed rickshaw loaders, electric sewing machines and other business equipment to trained beneficiaries under the Livelihood Grants programme. Non-food items were also handed over to deserving families.
Officials said Qatar Charity had earlier distributed 122 wheelchairs among deserving persons in Peshawar, Mardan and Charsadda districts. The guests later visited exhibition stalls showcasing project activities and reviewed various components of the initiative.
