PESHAWAR
A highly wanted terrorist commander, identified as Gidar, has been killed during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Furqan Bilal confirmed on Thursday.
He said, the operation was being conducted by the district police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) under the supervision of the Bannu DPO against terrorist elements affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij.
The operation is still underway in areas including Akbar Ali Khan Kalay, Sadakhel, Sadar Awan and surrounding localities within the jurisdiction of Domel Police Station.
Police and CTD teams are conducting operations based on intelligence reports regarding the presence and movement of suspected terrorists.
Search and surveillance operations are also continuing in the area, while security has been further tightened in various parts of Bannu Township and Domel.
Police said further details and updates regarding the operation would be shared as the action progresses.
