Flag hoisting at Supreme Court building marks 79th Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: A dignified and inclusive flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan building on Friday to commemorate the 79th Independence Day. The ceremony was attended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Judges of the Supreme Court, the Registrar, officers, staff and their children. In a symbolic expression of Pakistan’s constitutional commitment to equality, inclusion and religious harmony, the national flag was hoisted by children of the minority community, the Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court, a Hindu Pandit, a Christian Priest, and a Muslim Cleric. The national anthem was played by the Police Band, adding a sense of solemnity and national pride to the occasion. The participation of people from diverse religious communities in the flag-hoisting ceremony underscored the message that Pakistan belongs equally to all its citizens and that the country’s strength lies in its diversity, unity and shared commitment to the ideals of the Constitution.
