A suspected member of a gang allegedly involved in the murder of a man and a woman on Ring Road was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Peshawar, while two accomplices managed to escape.
According to Capital City Police Peshawar statement, the suspects had allegedly killed Shafaq, son of Syedajan, and wife of Naeem Khan, within the limits of Peshtakhara police station.
Police said that the victims were travelling towards Karkhano market from the area on a motorcycle when they were allegedly targeted.
Police said investigators traced the suspects with the help of modern investigative techniques and CCTV footage. Acting on information about their presence at the, a police team conducted a raid, police added.
During the operation, an exchange of fire took place between police and the suspects, resulting in the death of one suspect, police claimed and added that the slain identified as Noor Rehman.
Police said a car allegedly used in the crime, a pistol and mobile phones were recovered from the scene.
According to police records, the deceased suspect was allegedly involved in several cases, including cases under sections relating to attempted murder, assault on public servants, rioting, criminal intimidation and damage to property.
Police said efforts were under way to arrest the two suspects who fled the scene.
