ISLAMABAD: Secretary Housing & Works, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood, accompanied by Director General, Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), Capt. (Retd.) Zafar Iqbal, and other senior officers, conducted a detailed visit to Sectors G-13, G-14 and G-15 on 18 August 2026. During the visit, he issued important directions to the concerned officers regarding improvement of civic amenities, removal of encroachments, and timely completion of ongoing development works.
During his visit to various areas of Sector G-13, the Secretary Housing & Works took serious notice of illegal encroachments and unauthorized activities. Expressing displeasure over the presence of encroachments, he directed the concerned authorities to remove all illegal encroachments forthwith and take indiscriminate action in accordance with the rules and regulations, so as to safeguard public spaces and amenities meant for the residents.
The Secretary Housing & Works also inspected unauthorized encroachments established within residential areas of Sector G-13. He directed the concerned authorities to immediately issue notices to those responsible for such illegal constructions and activities and proceed further in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
During the visit, the Secretary Housing & Works also reviewed various playgrounds and sports facilities in Sector G-13. He directed that the playgrounds be upgraded in line with modern requirements to provide better recreational and sports facilities to local residents, particularly children and youth. He further directed that existing facilities be improved and made more functional to promote sports-related support activities and other healthy and positive recreational activities.
Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood stated on the occasion that, besides providing basic and recreational facilities to citizens, protection of government land and public spaces is among the key priorities of the government. He made it clear that no illegal encroachment or unauthorized construction on government land would be tolerated, and that the concerned authorities must ensure effective action in accordance with the law.
Later, the Secretary Housing & Works visited Sectors G-14 and G-15 and reviewed the ongoing development works, infrastructure and other civic facilities. He was briefed by the concerned officers on the progress of various development projects and directed that the remaining development works in Sector G-15 be expedited on a priority basis and completed at the earliest.
The Secretary Housing & Works directed the officers to ensure quality, pace and transparency in all development projects and to regularly monitor ongoing works in the field, so that improved civic facilities could be provided to residents in a timely manner.
He further directed that inconvenience to the public during the execution of development works be minimized and that the concerned authorities play a proactive and responsive role in addressing public complaints and ensuring the provision of necessary facilities.
The Secretary Housing & Works reiterated his commitment that practical measures would continue to be undertaken for the improvement of civic amenities, infrastructure, playgrounds and other public spaces in various housing sectors of Islamabad.
