Islamabad, August 20, 2026: COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has emerged as the highest-ranked university in Pakistan in the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities 2026–2027 Rankings, securing 410th position globally with an overall score of 52.
CUI leads Pakistani universities in the global ranking, followed by Quaid-i-Azam University at 451st, The University of Lahore at 479th, University of Management and Technology (UMT) at 573rd, and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) at 590th globally, highlighting Pakistan’s growing presence in international research-based university rankings.
CUI’s national standing is particularly significant as the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings emphasize academic research performance, research reputation and global scholarly impact, providing an internationally comparable assessment of research-intensive institutions.
The achievement reflects CUI’s sustained focus on high-quality research, impactful publications, international collaboration and increasing global academic visibility.

CUI has also demonstrated notable strength across several subject areas. In the U.S. News rankings, the University stands 28th globally in Mathematics, 67th in Green and Sustainable Science and Technology, 151st in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 178th in Artificial Intelligence, and 142nd overall in Engineering, while also maintaining a strong international position in Computer Science, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
The recognition further consolidates CUI’s position as Pakistan’s leading research-intensive university and reflects its growing contribution to the country’s knowledge economy, scientific advancement and sustainable development.
