Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigation Minister Riaz Khan has directed authorities to identify genuine flood victims in Buner who have been left out of government compensation and ensure that their cases were processed on a priority basis.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting here on Wednesday to review pending cases of flood-affected people in Buner who were either awaiting compensation or had not been included in the government’s assistance programme, said a handout.
The meeting reviewed the overall status of compensation payments in the district, including completed and pending cases, excluded victims, verification procedures and cases delayed due to documentation or other procedural issues.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Arifullah and administrative officers from Buner attended the meeting.
Officials briefed the minister on progress in processing compensation cases, reasons for delays and the measures being taken to resolve pending matters.
Mr Khan directed the relevant officers to immediately identify deserving flood victims who had been left out of the compensation process and ensure their cases were processed without further delay.
He also directed the authorities to take all necessary steps to ensure that the compensation approved by the provincial government reached every deserving affected person.
The minister said providing timely relief and assistance to flood victims was a priority of the provincial government. He stressed that transparency, merit and strict adherence to rules and regulations must be maintained throughout the compensation process.
He further directed officials to give priority to cases pending because of missing documents, verification requirements or other procedural hurdles and take effective measures to remove difficulties being faced by affected people.
