A security forces personnel was shot and injured by unknown motorcyclists in an attack on polio eradication team incident, took place in Aka Khel, in the jurisdiction of Melwat police station, subdivision Bara, District Khyber on Thursday.
Health and forces officials informed that the polio vaccination team came under attack in Karapa locality when they were executing their duties.
According to the sources unknown motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing on the team, injuring a Frontier Corp (FC) soldier, identified as Aqib Wazir of wing 161 and successfully managed to escape from the site.
The wounded troop was rushed to the nearest health center for medical treatment.
A polio worker was also slightly wounded when he fell down of his motorcycle during the armed persons offense.
Soon after the happen the officials of security agencies rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and collected evidence for investigation, sources told.
It is to be stated here that like other parts of the country, a 7-day National Anti-Polio Campaign has been launched in District Khyber from May 23, 2022.
