Accountability Court (AC) Rawalpindi has approved exemption from attendance plea of former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the reference pertaining to embezzlement of 6000 kanals land of forest department. The court adjourned hearing of the case till September 17.
tThe reference came up for hearing before AC Rawalpindi led by judge Ejaz Ali Wednesday.
The lawyers of NAB and accused were present in the court during hearing of the reference.
Counsel for Pervaiz Elahi filed one day exemption plea in the court.
The petitioner had taken stance in the application for exemption that 80 years old petitioner is not only facing health problems of diverse nature and its 6 ribs are broken but also he is suffering from immense pain in chest and knee after falling in his home. Due to it the doctor has strictly forbidden him from travelling besides advising him to take rest. Therefore, he is unable to appear in the court and he should be granted exemption for one day from attendance.
The court while accepting exemption plea adjourned the hearing of the case till September 17 without proceedings.
Due to death of a co-accused in the case, the court directed NAB to file his documents related to death.
It is pertinent to mention here this reference was filed in AC in February 2025 and 18 accused persons including Pervaiz Elahi were nominated in this reference.
