Accused booked in first PECA case in Charsadda

PESHAWAR: In a significant development, the first case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) has been registered in Charsadda district, and the suspect has been taken into custody. According to Utmanzai police on Tuesday, the accused was arrested for allegedly using offensive and provocative language against the Pakistan Army and police on social media. Acting on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Charsadda, Suleman Zafar, the Umarzai police apprehended the suspect, identified as Abdullah, son of Maqsood, a resident of Qadeemabad Umarzai. The case marks the first instance of legal action under PECA 2016 in Charsadda.
