ADR law acceptable at international level: Home Secretary

Home Secretary& Tribal Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ikramullah Khan has said that alternate dispute resolution is a legal system accepted at international level that beside Pakistan is also enforced in Pakistan and other countries. The purpose of the system is cooperation of justice along with judiciary.
He issued these directives to administrative officers while presiding over a high-level meeting regarding the implementation of the alternate dispute resolution law in further better manner. Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and authorities of the law-enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
The participants of the meeting were given detailed briefing on different points of the alternate dispute resolution law.
The Secretary Home & Tribal Affairs said that ADR law is no alternate to judiciary, rather promulgated for extending cooperation. He directed the concerned officers to provide guidance to people regarding the alternate dispute resolution law and give no advice on their own to maintain and confidence.
He directed ensuring of the protection of human rights during the enforcement of law in any circumstances and obtaining of the services of experienced retired persons in settled areas to utilize them in connections with the implementation of the alternate dispute resolution law.
It is worth mentioning that current the ADR law is expended to sixteen districts of the province and maximum benefit of the law has been achieved in tribal districts.
Speaking about mediators under the ADR law, he directed the ensuring of merit and transparency in their selection and acceleration of the pace of work on the implementation of each and every section of the law in letter and spirit to accomplish the dream of the establishment of peaceful society.
