Provincial Minister for Agriculture Major (Retd) Sajjad Barkwal visited the Tarnab Agricultural Research Institute Peshawar. During the visit, he conducted a detailed inspection of modern agricultural machinery received from China, said a handout.
Provincial minister was accompanied by Secretary Agriculture Atta-ur-Rehman Khalil, Director General Agricultural Research Dr. Abdul Rauf, Director General Agricultural Extension Murad Ali, Director General Agricultural Engineering Naseem Javid, and other relevant agricultural department officers.
Provincial Minister Barkwal formally handed over the machinery to the Directorates of Agricultural Research, Agricultural Extension, and Agricultural Engineering.
Officials briefing the provincial minister on the Chinese agricultural machinery stated it would help reclaim barren land for cultivation and enable land leveling.
This equipment is being provided to research centers, seed production farms and agricultural engineering units for technology transfer.
Provincial Minister Major (Retd) Sajjad Barkwal directed scientists and officers of research institutions to utilize the machinery optimally for modernizing the province’s agriculture.
He stated that providing modern equipment would enhance farmers’ productivity and propel the agricultural sector toward new developmental milestones.
He described modern agricultural machinery as the backbone of farming, significantly reducing time and labor in crucial tasks like sowing, maintenance, and harvesting.
By preventing waste of resources such as seeds and fertilizers, the machinery lowers overall costs, leading to sustainable income growth for farmers.
Modern agricultural tools are indispensable for promoting sustainable farming practices.
Minister Sajjad Barkwal expressed special gratitude to the Chinese government and relevant institutions for providing the equipment and machinery to modernize the province’s agriculture. He emphasized that international cooperation would inject new momentum into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s agricultural development.
