PESHAWAR
Awami National Party (ANP) Central President Senator Aimal Wali Khan has described December 16, 2014, as the darkest and most unforgettable day in Pakistan’s history, marking the tragic Army Public School attack in Peshawar.
On the occasion of the 11th anniversary, Aimal Wali Khan paid tribute to the martyrs of the horrific incident and expressed solidarity with their families, who are still awaiting justice. He recalled that a consensus action plan, the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism, was formulated in response to the tragedy.
However, he criticized its partial implementation, which, he said, has weakened its effectiveness and left the province vulnerable to terrorism and extremism once again.
Aimal Wali Khan emphasized that the war against terrorism could not be won with guns alone. He called for strict punishment of terrorists and their facilitators, questioning why action has not been taken against those who resettled 40,000 terrorists in the province. He warned that without comprehensive measures against terrorism, such incidents could recur.
The ANP president reaffirmed his party’s heartfelt sympathy and full solidarity with the families of APS martyrs and pledged to continue raising their voice against terrorism. He reiterated the party’s commitment to a peaceful, democratic, and constitutional Pakistan for the safe future of children.
