Sindh Minister for Works & Services and Prisons Haji Ali Hassan Zardari has paid rich tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis of the September 1965 war, saying their unparalleled sacrifices and courage in defending the motherland remain a proud and glorious chapter in Pakistan’s history.
In his message issued on the occasion of Defence and Martyrs’ Day, observed on September 6, the provincial minister said the day was an opportunity for the nation to remember the valour, patriotism and spirit of sacrifice displayed by the Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan during the 1965 war.
He said the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and the Ghazis who demonstrated exemplary courage on the battlefield were the true heroes of the nation.
Their sacrifices, he added, represented an enduring legacy of patriotism, discipline, courage and unwavering commitment to the defence of the country.
Haji Ali Hassan Zardari said September 6 was not merely a day of remembrance but also a reminder of the nation’s collective resolve to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security. The sacrifices and bravery demonstrated by the Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force during the 1965 conflict, he said, reflected the strength of national unity in the face of aggression.
The minister also paid tribute to the families of the martyrs, saying they had made an extraordinary sacrifice for the country and deserved the highest honour and respect. He said the nation could never forget the families who endured the loss of their loved ones for the defence and security of Pakistan.
He stressed that the spirit of September should continue to inspire the younger generation to serve the country with dedication, discipline, unity and a strong sense of national responsibility. The sacrifices of the Armed Forces, he said, should be remembered not only through ceremonies but also by working for peace, progress, democracy, stability and national cohesion.
Haji Ali Hassan Zardari prayed to Almighty Allah to elevate the ranks of all Shuhada, grant patience and strength to their bereaved families, and bless Pakistan with peace, prosperity, stability and lasting security.
“Pakistan will always remember its Shuhada and Ghazis with pride and gratitude. Their sacrifices are an enduring symbol of love for the motherland and will continue to inspire generations to come,” he said.
