The Awami National Party and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Fazal, once again locked in a war of words as both sides have started maligning each other’s leadership.
The tit-for-tat statements came after Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) addressing a public rally in Waziristan accused Awami National Party (ANP) of supporting former president General Pervez Musharraf proposed plan of referendum in 2002.
A statement issued from Bacha Khan Markaz, the senior leadership of ANP lash-out at JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman said that ANP did not support President Gen Pervez Musharraf in his proposed referendum plan as it was an unconstitutional move.
Zahid Khan, the central spokesperson of the ANP said in a statement that JUI-F formed government in KP in 2002 and blamed the party for underhand deal with the then central government.
He alleged Maulana Fazal for creating unrest in erstwhile FATA and creating space for militancy in KP and Afghanistan.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman was responsible for the backwardness of the newly merged districts he added.
Reacting to a statement issued by the JUI-F spokesperson, Zahid Khan said that Maulana has always wished to be a part of the government and has used the religious card for this purpose, adding that millions of tribesmen migrated from the tribal regions after military operation but JUI-F did not occur a single word, he said, ANP supported the democratic governments in Pakistan and Afghanistan and never use backdoor channels to gain power in the country.
It is worth mentioning here that the central spokesperson of JUI-F Aslam Gauri issued a statement on Tuesday blamed ANP for supporting the PTI government in KP and Balochistan.
He said that ANP is a silent partner of PTI government in KP, adding that the role of the party in national politics has come to end as the party provincial president Aimal Wali has no potential to lead its party and workers.
ANP was not against American and its ally’s withdrawal from Afghanistan as it has never raised voice for brutality inflicted US army upon Afghani nationals.
