The Awami National Party (ANP) has called for a broad-based Grand National Dialogue among all political stakeholders, constitutional institutions, and relevant parties to chart a new path forward for Pakistan.
In a statement, the ANP’s central spokesperson, Engineer Ehsanullah Khan, said that the country stands at a historic crossroads following recent political developments and the end of a prolonged state of conflict.
“This is a rare opportunity to bring all political parties together on one platform and initiate a national dialogue for the stability of the federation, development, and the resolution of longstanding issues faced by federal units—all within the framework of the Constitution of Pakistan,” said Khan.
The spokesperson emphasized the need to uphold the Constitution and ensure the practical implementation of provincial autonomy. He highlighted the 18th Amendment as a landmark achievement but stressed that additional steps are necessary to guarantee the fair distribution of resources and the empowerment of provinces.
He also emphasized that protecting human rights must remain a cornerstone of national development. The Grand Dialogue, he said, should give special attention to freedom of expression, religious liberty, minority rights, and the protection of women and children.
Addressing the issue of extremism and terrorism, Khan warned that fundamentalism and social suffocation have severely damaged Pakistan’s social fabric. He called for a unified and systematic strategy to counter terrorism, combining military efforts with social reforms, educational initiatives, and economic opportunities.
He suggested that May 10, 2025, could serve as a symbolic date to launch this new chapter in Pakistan’s history. “It is time to put the national interest above political rivalries, institutional turf wars, and personal ambitions,” he urged. “The Grand Dialogue is a golden opportunity to close the dark chapters of our past and build a future rooted in justice, equality, and peace.”
