Awami National Party (ANP) president Asfandyar Wali Khan and Senior Vice-President Ameer Haider Khan Hoti have condemned the killing of Arbab Ghulam Kasi Advocate in Balochistan province and demanded a probe into the murder of the party leader.
Unknown assailants gunned down ANP senior leader Arbab Ghulam Kasi on Tuesday. According to the Balochistan Police, Mr Kasi had been shot dead in the premises of Kuchlak Police Station. The police said they were still clueless about the motives for the murder of Arbab Ghulam Kasi Advocate.
Asfanday Wali Khan in a statement issued from Bacha Khan Markaz said that Arbab Ghulam Kasi Advocate was a peaceful citizen and a responsible leader of the party, adding that growing incidents of target killing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are the continuation of terrorism and extremism.
He criticized the government for not taking the incidents of terrorism seriously which claimed the lives of innocent political leaders and workers.
ANP president said that those responsible for the killing of Arbab Ghulam should be arrested as early as possible and a transparent investigation should be conducted in the case.
Arbab Ghulam Advocate was one of the founding members of Pashtun Students Federation (PSF) who also endured many hardships for the party, Asfandyar said and added that ANP rejects the tactics and will not back down from its stance on extremism and terrorism.
