ANP wants PPP help to win Swat by-election to be held on June 26

PESHAWAR: The leadership of Awami National Party (ANP) on Tuesday sought Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) political support in the by-election on PK-7, Swat-1V constituency. The seat had fallen vacant following the death of ANP lawmaker Waqar Khan on April 30. The leadership of the both parties held a detailed discussed over the ongoing political situation and upcoming by-election in district Swat. ANP provincial spokesperson MPA Samar Haroon Bilour, Salahuddin Khan, Faisal Zeb Khan and Shakeel Bashir Khan were also part of the delegation. The delegation requested the PPP leadership, which was leading by the provincial president Najmuddin Khan, to announce its support to the ANP candidate in the by-polls. DLP Report
As per the schedule announced by the election commission, the polling would be held on June 26.
PPP leaders sought some time for taking the party’s top leadership into confidence in that regard.
The ANP lawmakers said both the parties had very cordial relations and expressed the hope that the PPP would announce support to ANP candidate in the by-election.
ANP has nominated Hussain Ahmad Khan alias Khan Nawab as its candidate for the by-poll.
PPP MPA Nighat Orakzai and former minister Ziaullah Afridi were also present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that ANP had forged alliance with PPP in the last local government elections.
