An important meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Swat Shahzad Mehboob, was held to finalize preparations for anti-corruption awareness week, which will be observed from December 2 to December 9, 2024.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various departments, including the Police Department, Health Department, Education Department, Tehsil Municipal Administration, Civil Defense, WSSC, and Assistant Commissioners via video link.
DC Shahzad Mehboob emphasized that the week-long campaign aims to raise public awareness and promote sensitization against corruption and bribery, said an official handout.
The provincial government has directed all institutions to organize activities such as seminars, lectures, awareness walks, and rallies in educational institutions, madrasas, colleges, universities, and government offices to educate the public about the harmful effects of corruption.
Speaking at the meeting, Shahzad Mehboob described corruption as a major obstacle to socio-economic development, likening it to termites that eat away at society’s foundation. He noted that corruption fosters inequality, erodes public trust in systems, and undermines development efforts.
“The elimination of corruption is a collective national and religious responsibility. Everyone must play a positive role in combating this menace,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
DC Swat urged all departments to ensure strict implementation of the government’s directives for the successful observance of anti-corruption awareness week.
