WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional cooperation. During a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Lan Fo’an, in Washington D.C., he conveyed Pakistan’s full and unconditional support for the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Development Bank. The Finance Minister appreciated Minister Lan’s acknowledgement of Pakistan’s active role in facilitating dialogue and promoting stability in the region. ONLINE
During a meeting with Governor of the People’s Bank of China Dr. Pan Gongsheng, the Finance Minister discussed financial cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister expressed keen interest in fully leveraging the OPEC Fund’s three complementary financing windows, including sovereign lending for the public sector, private sector financing, and Islamic finance instruments.

The Finance Minister encouraged the OPEC Fund to further deepen its engagement with Pakistan’s private sector and expressed interest in exploring policy-based budget support operations.
