Vice Chancellor of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST) Prof. Dr. Tahir Irfan Khan on Thursday visited the office of Cantonment Board Abbottabad to discuss prospects of collaboration in education, technical training and community development.
He was accompanied by AUST Director Administration Mr. Ajmal Khan. The delegation was received by Cantonment Executive Officer Mr. Omer Masoom Wazir, who presented a commemorative shield to the vice chancellor as a token of respect.
During the meeting, the CEO briefed Dr. Khan on the board’s administrative functions, public service delivery, civic management initiatives, ongoing development projects and community welfare programmes. He said the board remains committed to providing quality municipal services while promoting sustainable development and public welfare.
Dr. Khan also visited the Cantonment Women Skill Development Centre. Officials briefed him on vocational and technical training programmes offered to women from Abbottabad and surrounding areas. They said the centre is helping women gain market-oriented skills to achieve financial independence and contribute to their families and society.
Appreciating the board’s initiatives, the vice chancellor described the Women Skill Development Centre as a commendable effort for promoting women’s empowerment through skill development.
“Empowering women through education and vocational training is essential for sustainable socio-economic development,” he said.
Dr. Khan reaffirmed AUST’s commitment to extending full cooperation to the Cantonment Board in areas of women’s empowerment, technical education, research, capacity building and community development. He assured that the university would provide all possible academic and institutional support when required.
At the conclusion of the visit, both institutions expressed mutual commitment to strengthening collaboration in education, skill development, research and community engagement for the socio-economic empowerment of women.
