Australian Pashtun Association elects new office-bearers

The Australian Pashtun Association, a registered social, cultural and welfare organisation, has completed its annual elections, electing a new executive committee for the coming year.
The elections were held in Sydney in a transparent and democratic manner, with members participating actively in the process. The results were formally announced following the completion of the election process.
According to the results, Intikhab Alam was elected president, while Dr Iftikhar Ahmad was elected senior vice president. Jehanzaib Shah Syed and Prof Dr Hassan Ali Khattak were elected vice presidents.
Prof Ahmad Saeed Nadeem was elected general secretary, Zahid Khan Sabaoon cultural secretary, Mazhar Alam finance secretary and senior journalist Asif Shehzad, who hails from Peshawar, media and information secretary.
The executive committee includes Dr Zawar Khan, Dr Shujaul Islam, Ibrahim Shah, Imran Afzal Khan, Dr Fazlullah, Mohammad Ajmal Khan and Inayatur Rehman.
In his address after the election, newly elected president Intikhab Alam thanked the members for reposing confidence in the new leadership. He said he regarded the mandate as a responsibility and pledged to work with his team for the welfare of the Pashtun community in Australia.
He said the association would focus on guiding younger generations, promoting Pashtun cultural heritage, strengthening community unity and undertaking welfare initiatives.
Mr Alam said the association would continue to provide a platform for Pashtun families living in Australia and organise programmes aimed at promoting social cohesion and connecting the younger generation with their language, culture and traditions.
General Secretary Prof Ahmad Saeed Nadeem said the new leadership would seek to make the organisation more active, organised and responsive to the needs of the community. He said the association would adopt an inclusive approach and work to bring together members of all sections of the Pashtun community.
