Plastic appears to be a beneficial and useful item at first glance, but in reality, it is extremely dangerous for human beings. The use of plastic has increased enormously in human life, and living without it now seems very difficult. Whenever someone goes shopping at a shop or store, the shopkeeper puts the items in a plastic bag and hands it over. Whether it is vegetables or medicines, the use of plastic has become essential. Plastic is not only used in the form of bags, but plastic utensils are also very common. It is correct to say that plastic utensils have now become a part of our daily lives. Glasses, jugs, plates, spoons, and many other utensils made of plastic are commonly used in everyday life. The use of these utensils has increased because they are much cheaper than utensils made from other metals.
Plastic is also used excessively in many other items. Disposable cups are also made of plastic. Tea or other food and drinks are served to customers in these disposable cups, and the customer throws them away after a single use because they are cheap. The excessive use of plastic is increasing dangers to human life. Environmental pollution was already rising, and plastic is further adding to this pollution. Plastic may seem cheap, but it is very dangerous, and we must get rid of it.
The most dangerous aspect of plastic is that it neither decomposes nor disappears. It can only be recycled, but not all plastic waste can be recycled because the costs become too high. Plastic also blocks gutters and sewage lines. We must protect the environment from plastic. It is not possible to get rid of plastic immediately, but it can be gradually eliminated over time.
If shopkeepers stop giving vegetables or other items in plastic bags and instead use cloth bags or paper bags, we can be freed from plastic. Instead of plastic, utensils made from other metals or materials should be used so that we can stay safe from the dangers of plastic.
Plastic contains dangerous chemicals. Its particles enter the stomach through breathing and cause heart disease, respiratory diseases, and other ailments in humans. Even if plastic is buried underground, it remains intact for hundreds of years. Plastic buried in the ground also pollutes underground water. Apart from humans, plastic is extremely dangerous for aquatic life as well. Fish swallow plastic mistaking it for food, which proves fatal for them.
The use of plastic cannot be stopped immediately, but it can be reduced gradually. An awareness campaign against plastic should be launched so that people can be protected from its dangers.
