Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif has strongly condemned remarks made by the federal minister Atta Tarar, accusing him of exaggeration and self-promotion.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Mr Saif accused the federal government of mistreating detained PTI protesters, calling it an act of oppression, and accused federal minister Atta Tarar of incompetence and ignorance, particularly highlighting his demand for protest footage as evidence of his ineptitude.
“The federal government was accused of coercing arrested and injured personnel into recording videos under duress,” he said and criticized the alleged fabrication of footage and its use to mislead the public.
KP government spokesperson referenced international media coverage and social media videos that reportedly expose federal authorities’ brutality, including firing on protesters and visible casualties.
The injured personnel should be transferred to hospitals in KP for proper care and the federal government must halt any further coercion or mistreatment of detained protesters.
Saif reiterated that the KP government would persist in advocating for citizens’ rights and exposing the alleged injustices at all available forums.
He urged the federal government to acknowledge the realities of the situation rather than attempting to manipulate public perception through staged or fake footage.
He also called on Atta Tarar to address the pressing concerns genuinely and avoid sensationalism.
Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif reaffirmed the KP government’s stance on protecting the rights of its citizens and criticized the federal administration for actions he described as unjust and oppressive.
