ISLAMABAD
A remarkable display of humanitarian spirit was seen at a blood donation camp held at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where renowned social workers Shabir Hussain and Bilques Ara once again led by example.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabir Hussain donated blood for the 143rd time, while Bilques Ara marked her 43rd donation, once again highlighting their unwavering commitment to saving human lives through selfless service.
Speaking to media persons, Shabir Hussain said he has been regularly donating blood for the past 45 years, having started this noble mission in 1980.
He noted that his journey has been driven solely by humanitarian concern rather than any desire for recognition or awards. While emphasizing the importance of blood donation, he said it remains one of the greatest services to humanity.
“If my blood can give someone a second chance at life, that itself is my reward,” he remarked.
His unparalleled dedication has earned him widespread respect across IIOJK, inspiring countless people, particularly the youth, to voluntarily donate blood and serve humanity. The camp also highlighted the inspiring journey of Bilques Ara of Sopore, who donated blood for the 43rd time. She said she began donating in 2014 after her young son fell into a coma and faced an urgent need for blood, a painful experience that motivated her to ensure no family suffers due to blood shortages.
Since then, she has remained committed to spreading awareness about voluntary blood donation, encouraging people especially women to participate in this life-saving cause.
The camp saw enthusiastic participation and was widely appreciated by medical staff and the local community.
