Brakwal chairs meeting on Road Improvement and Rehabilitation in Karak

A meeting was held in Peshawar on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial Minister for Agriculture Major (Retd) Sajjad Barkwal, to discuss the improvement and rehabilitation of roads in Karak district under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project, supported by the World Bank.
The meeting was attended by Resident Engineer Husam Shahzad of the project, Deputy Team Leader Matiullah Jan, Deputy Director of Communications and Works (C&W) Irshad, and other relevant officials. Project authorities briefed the provincial Minister for agriculture Sajjad Brakwal on the ongoing road construction initiatives in Karak district under World Bank assistance.
The project includes a total of four numbers of roads located at karak. Roads included are Rehabilitation of Madaki to Siraj baba road (9.97km), Rehabilitation of Pyala morh to shahidan Banda (6.94km), Rehabilitation of Indus highway to mirdal Banda via Musakan road (5.46km), Rehabilitation of main Gurgai road to issaki khunari (4.5km). The total estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs. 1,900 million, with completion expected within 15 months.
Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Sajjad Barkwal directed officials to ensure transparency in both the quality and quantity of road construction work. He emphasized adapting project designs to align with developmental needs and the uplift of local communities. He stated that the current provincial government is committed to provide all necessary facilities to the public and prioritizing infrastructure development in remote areas to enhance connectivity and boost commercial activities. The Provincial minister Brakwal vowed to personally monitor the projects, warning that negligence or delays would not be tolerated. He also thanked World Bank officials and relevant department officers for their cooperation in executing public welfare projects.
