Defence minister Khawaja Asif while declaring bureaucracy real and permanent rulers of Pakistan has said that politicians and ruling class were held accountable in 78 years history of the country but bureaucracy has never been subjected to accountability like this.
Sharing a post about alleged financial irregularity of a senior bureaucrat Khawaja Asif said several examples of accountability of politicians are found in the history of Pakistan. Certain examples with reference to other ruling class are there too. But it is difficult to find examples of accountability of bureaucrats .
Citing to a ruling bureaucrat in the past, Khawaja Asif said he used derogatory remarks on the face of the politicians and politicians tolerated it.
If bureaucrats are counted like ministers and advisors during the last 78 years their strength too stands higher.
He held if no one is there to make bureaucracy accountable then politicians and their weaknesses are real responsible for it. Bureaucrats are the characters who take advantage of this situation .
Policy of nationalization was adopted in the decade of 1970 and bureaucracy took control of all institutions. Later the institutions which were nationalized were ruined. But no government questioned these powerful elements.
He claimed if the loss caused due to nationalization is assessed, it will surpass fall of Dhaka. The present government is moving forward the program of privatization and he prays for its success.
He said Nawaz Sharif was the first ruler who made successful bid to reverse the destruction caused by nationalization. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto further took forward this process. But later this process was stopped. The permanent ruling bureaucracy impeded the process. However Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is focusing on privatization. We pray for his success.
He underlined rich people associated with Pakistan bureaucracy are there in Portugal, Canada, US, UK and Pakistan. They are among those who take direct benefit from the lack of farsightedness of politicians.
Narrating the incident of a former governor general he said the said governor general had to face paralysis later . When politicians visited him he used highly derogatory remarks. However the politicians did not understand what he said.
According to Khawaja Asif, British secretary of governor general translated these English words and told the politicians what governor general is saying in fact.
