PESHAWAR: All candidates of the Businessman Forum, led by former senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour defeated their opponents from Sarhad Business Alliance, with high margin, in the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) election for the year 2024-26. The Businessman Forum candidates on 10 Corporate and 10 Associate Group seats succeeded with high margin in the election. A total of 2,026 votes were polled, including 381 in Corporate and 1645 in Associate Group. The polling started at 8:00 Am which ended at 5:00 PM, without any interval. Businessman Forum, Sarhad Business Alliance and Pakistan Business Community fielded candidates for 10 seats of Corporate and 10 Associate Group seats. A large number of voters and supporters gathered inside and outside the polling stations. Special camps and help desks by members and workers of all groups set up for guidance of voters. A fool-proof security arrangement made by deployment of a heavy contingent of police inside and outside the polling stations to maintain law and order situation. Our Correspondent
In order to conduct transparent and fair elections, Directorate General of Trade (DGTO) appointed an officer Waqas Elahi as observer. Also, the overall election process/proceeding was closely monitored by Secretary General of the SCCI Muqtasid Ahsan.
The Businessman candidates declared successful include Abbas Fuad Azeem by gaining 258 votes, while Adnan Nasir 238, Aftab Iqbal 249, Fazal Moqeem Khan 242, Hassan Zahideen 242, Ashfaq Ahmed 231, Junaid Altaf 256, Sabir Ahmad Bangash 224, Sajjad Zaheer 230 and Ziaul Haq Sarhadi 227 obtained votes, according to results announced by Election Commission.
As per the announced results, in Associate Group, the Businessman Forum candidates also clichéd historic victory include Abdul Jalil Jan secured 1013, while Abdul Nasir 990, Gul Zaman 993, Muhammad Nadeem 995, Mujeebur Rehman 1007, Saddam Hussain 985, Saifullah Khan 986, Shams-ul-Rahim 974, Sheryar Khan 998 and Sultan Muhammad 916 votes.
The name of successful candidates was formally announced by senior member of the Election Commission Malik Niaz Ahmad and said Businessman Forum won the election with high margin.
Business community appreciated the election commission and administration of the Sarhad Chamber for the peaceful conduct of the electoral exercise and overall arrangements on the polling day.
Later, the businessman forum leaders and supporters celebrated the historic victory with fireworks and crackers.
The BF leaders including Ghazanfar Bilour, Traders leader Haji Muhammad Afzal, Shaukat Ali Khan and others while talking to reporters after the clean sweep in the election thanked the business community for vote and support.
The leaders said the landslide victory in the election was a testimony of selfless service from the BF platform to the business community.
They reaffirmed commitment to continue indiscriminate service to the business community in the future.
