In this regard the Elementary & Secondary Education Department KP in collaboration with VSO, PRDS and ECW, organized a ceremony at TMA Hall Nowshera, followed by an awareness walk to sensitize parents to enroll their children in schools. Member Provincial Assembly Ashfaq Ahmad Khan inaugurated the campaign, while Assistant Commissioner Pabbi, Ms. Khawla Tariq, education department Nowshera focal person for enrollment drive, Muhammad Ayaz, other education officers, teachers and PTC members also attended the event.
The speakers said that PTC members and volunteers were actively involved in the admission campaign to raise awareness about the importance of education and ensure the enrollment of every out-of-school child in public sector schools.
MPA Ashfaq Ahmad was of the view that according to a rough estimate, more than 4 million boys & girls are still out of school in the province. The country cannot progress with just building roads rather we will have to raise the education ratio. If 30 to 40 percent of children are out of school, it will be a precursor to many problems in the future, therefore we must bring back street children and other out-of-school children to educational institutes and for this all stakeholders including parents, teachers and religious scholars have to play an effective role.
He further added that PTI led government increased the number of teachers up-to 60% in the province to overcome issue of lack of teachers besides providing all basic facilities to the state-run schools. He said that KP government will soon ensure free text-books to children of all government schools.
Other speakers said that under the project of Multi Year Resilience Program (MYRP), VSO and PRDS along with education department kp are making all-out efforts to improve the education system in the province. At the end of the ceremony, awareness walk was also held to raise awareness among the masses regarding enrollment drive.
